Hello There!

Just want to announce that our label Hearts & Plugs has a new logo and a new look. We’re amping up our game here for 2012 in H&P camp. It’s about to get for realz.

Also, we’re thrilled to announce that The Lovely Few has joined the Hearts & Plugs family! So now H&P is 4 strong with the likes of Mr. Jenkins, Ashley Hopkins, The Lovely Few, & of course, yours truly, Run Dan Run. Please take a moment to check out the family if you have not done so already.

In other news, we have been selected to represent the state of South Carolina at The State Of Music. We’re delighted to have been picked and hope to make momma bear (SC) proud!

This week (hopefully) our music video for “Lovesick Animal” will premiere on a network. We’re super excited about our FIRST EVER MUSIC VIDEO! Hunter Boone shot & edited the video with his mad skillz. If you’re in need of some video work, he is definitely your man.

Peace Out Cub Scout!

Spinner MP3 of the Day!

by rundanrun on January 16, 2012

Announcement: Our song “Box-Type Love” was the MP3 of the Day on Spinner. Be sure to download it here.

Our music video for “Lovesick Animal.” is also getting wrapped up tonight. Hopefully it’ll debut either sometime this week or next week. Very excited about our first ever music video!

There are some other good things cooking in the pot right now. Don’t want to spill too many juicy details this early in the game so I’ll have to save such morsels for later (plus, what else will I have to talk about later if I reveal all now on the wide world o’ the interweb?).

Happy New Year! Here’s 2012′s first update.

by rundanrun on January 7, 2012

Hello folks/visitors,

Welcome to 2012. This year is going to be a good year, I think. First off, I would like to let you all know that our album “Normal” will be released nationally on this Tuesday, January 10th. The time has come for the world to know what it is like to be “Normal.” (pun intended) We’ll be hitting the college radio airwaves as well as press outlets, you know, the works. Watch out.

If you didn’t know already, we’re on a label, our own label. It is called Hearts & Plugs. It currently features Run Dan Run, Mr. Jenkins, & Ashley Hopkins. We’ll be releasing our first sampler in a month or two that will be entirely free and will feature songs from everyone included a few exclusives. I’ll keep you up to date on that, in the meantime, be sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, & check out our Youtube. We’re all very excited about what H&P will be doing this coming year.

I recently had the opportunity to pen a few articles with Scene SC as a guest writer. It was one of the coolest things I’ve gotten to do through my music celeb status ;) I chose to write about my recording mantras as well as my favorite gear used on our album Normal. Please enjoy my words of wisdom, especially if you record your own music :)

Notice I like to use smileys? :) :P :*

Also, we’ve gotten a few great reviews lately that I’d like to share; We Are Unseen, Consequence of Sound, Baby Sue, Impose Magazine (top albums, #9), Charleston Scene, & Independent Clauses (listed in top 50 mixtape).

And one last thing, I’d like to encourage everyone to check out our close friends from Columbia, The Lovely Few. They just released a new album titled “The Perseids.” It is a lovely LP centered around the Perseids meteor shower. Check it out and if you like it, please consider purchasing a copy. I can’t stress enough the importance of supporting independent musicians. Your support has a direct influence on the creation of more good music.

Thanks for keeping up with us. To 2012!

Merry Christmas, Ya’ll!

by rundanrun on December 26, 2011

Just want to take a moment to say “Merry Christmas” & “Happy Holidays.” For me the holidays are about family. As I get older my family means more and more to me. Life is rather short. Just remember to take a moment with those you love. And don’t forget to take a moment out for yourself to do something for yourself, something meaningful that you can be proud of later. In other words, take care of those who take care of you including yourself.

Here’s to 2012.

Merry Christmas

by rundanrun on December 11, 2011

Here’s a video of a cover of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” that I had done a few years back. Always good to listen to during the holiday season. This is definitely one of my favorite Christmas songs of all time. So beautiful.

Happy Holidays,

The Latest

by rundanrun on November 21, 2011

I am never quite sure how to start at new blog post. It feels sorta like writing a mailing list email or perhaps a diary entry. I suppose I’ll just get on with the updates. I’ll go in numerical order.

1.  We are very excited to announce that we are now working with Team Clermont on a press campaign for our new album “Normal.” Our national release date for the album has been set for January 10, 2012. Check us out on their roster: http://teamclermont.com/roster/11839/run-dan-run

2. We’ve gotten a few little write ups recently. Check them out:

Charleston City Paper – 11/16/11

The Indie Machine – 10/28/11

Stagedive Malta – 11/18/11

Dead Journalist – 10/24/11

Undisclosed Locations – 10/25/11

3. You should definitely VOTE for Run Dan Run’s “Normal” as Album of the Year on Scene SC.

Other news of note: we’re currently working on setting up a music video for “Lovesick Animal”. We hope to get this done in the next few weeks and hope to debut it in the in the new year. It ought to be fun. I’ll keep you posted.

CD Release Show this Saturday, November 19th!

by rundanrun on November 16, 2011

The time has come. The band has arrived in town, Nick Jenkins from NYC, Ash Hopkins from Bahama, NC. We’ve secured a practice space. We’ve begun daily rehearsals. We’ve ironed our dress pants, etc.

This Saturday, November 19th Run Dan Run will be playing our new album “Normal” live for the Charlestonian masses at The Village Tavern. The cover is $5 and the show is all ages ($5 surcharge for those under 21). Bill Carson will be opening for us. We have 3 additional musicians/friends helping us pull this off so Run Dan Run will be a 6-piece for the night featuring: Kevin Hackler – trumpet, auxiliary percussion, Erin McKinley – keyboards, vocals, & Shane Greer – guitar. Mr. Jenkins will be performing a special post-show DJ set.

This show will be a real treat that I tell you you do not want to miss. This is THE Run Dan Run show to see.

Also, check out what Charleston City Paper has to say about the new record and upcoming show.

More News:

We are now a part of Team Clermont’s press roster. “Normal” will be released nationally on 1.10.2012. “Lovesick Animal” is our first single. Watch out for a music video near national release time. Ken Cohen of Soft Blanket Productions will be directing and editing the video. We’re very excited about working with him on this.

Hope to see you soon. Don’t forget, you can listen to the new record on our Bandcamp and purchase it directly from there or our Webstore (physical copies).
